When Umbraco acquired the uMarketing Suite back in August of 2024 we were excited. The uMarketingSuite is an incredible package of marketing tools that take Umbraco from a simple open source CMS to edge of consideration as a DXP. As of today, November 11, 2024, the uMarketingSuite is rebranded “Umbraco Engage.” Alongside this announcement Umbraco has determined the End of Life (EOL) for the uMarketingSuite 1.x is early next near (in Feb, 2025) while uMarketingSuite 2.x EOL is later in Nov 2025. Umbraco HQ provides documentation on migrating from uMarketingSuite to Umbraco Engage.

We are excited to see the pace with Umbraco has not only rebranded but also provided migration plans, tutorials, implementation documentation and more. In just a few months uMarketingSuite has become Umbraco Engage.
Umbraco Engage, formerly uMarketingSuite, is a comprehensive marketing add-on for the Umbraco CMS, offering features such as analytics, A/B testing, personalization, segmentation, profiling, reporting, custom goal scoring, integration of external profile data, and a headless Engage API.
The acquisition of uMarketingSuite and its rebranding as Umbraco Engage reflect Umbraco’s commitment to expanding its suite of commercial products, which now includes Engage, Deploy, Workflow, Commerce, and UI Builder. This strategic move aims to provide a more integrated and robust platform for marketers seeking to deliver personalized digital experiences.
Umbraco’s growing portfolio of commercial products now includes:
- Engage
- Deploy
- Workflow
- Commerce
- UI Builder
Umbraco HQ is marketing this is a composable DXP. We think it is a little early to say its a full fledged DXP considering the depth and breadth of the competition in the space but we love the progress. And for a lot of our clients Umbraco CMS with these commercial add-ons is extremely enticing. Umbraco currently occupies a unique space in the CMS and DXP space where it’s open source CMS does not require a license, and can be self-hosted. That’s a great combination of attributes for a lot of organizations.
The integration of Engage into Umbraco’s ecosystem enhances its capabilities, positioning it closer to a Digital Experience Platform (DXP). This development aligns with industry trends emphasizing personalization and data-driven marketing strategies. By incorporating Engage, organizations can leverage server-side analytics and 360° customer profiling to gain deep insights into user interactions, enabling real-time A/B testing and content optimization.
In summary, Umbraco Engage represents a significant advancement in Umbraco’s offerings, equipping marketers with the tools necessary to enhance user engagement and optimize content effectively within the CMS environment.
